The Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) joined the protest action yesterday at St. Joseph’s College in Quezon City, calling for the reversal of the Supreme Court’s initial decision declaring the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte unconstitutional. The group likewise urged the Court to grant the Motion for Reconsideration, which would consequently revive the case previously archived by the Senate.
PAHRA Secretary-General Egay Cabalitan stressed the urgency of the demand, "Hindi kami papayag na basta na lang isantabi ang proseso ng pananagutan. The people deserve leaders who are accountable to the law, not above it."
Participants from various civil society groups joined the demonstration, holding placards and chanting slogans for justice, truth, and accountability.
"Ang mga iba't ibang grupo, organisasyon, at maski mga lider ng simbahan ay nanawagan: Supreme Court, reverse the decision," Cabalitan said.
PAHRA reiterated its unwavering commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Filipino people in the fight for truth, justice, and accountability, from the very first call for redress until the last step toward securing it. The alliance stressed that leaders who hide behind power and avoid responsibility must not be allowed to escape the consequences of their actions.
"Sasamahan namin ang taumbayan sa paniningil sa mga nakaupo at sa pagkubli nila sa katotohanan. Hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi nananagot ang mga dapat managot.
