The Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) calls on the Senate to uphold its constitutional duty as the chamber of truth and accountability, as it prepares to decide on the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte today, August 6.
“This is a defining moment for the Senate,” said PAHRA Secretary-General Egay Cabalitan. “Now is the time for our elected officials to prove where their loyalty lies. Is it with the people or with those in power? Mga Senador, pumanig kayo sa mamamayan.”
PAHRA condemned the continued delay and political maneuvering that has stalled the impeachment proceedings.
“Filipinos are tired of watching officials pass the responsibility from one to another,” Cabalitan said. “But we will not tire of repeating our demand: proceed with the impeachment trial.”
PAHRA has long been at the forefront of the struggle against the abuses committed under the Duterte administration. Today, it remains steadfast in holding those in power accountable, including Vice President Sara Duterte.
