He has long been a peaceful civilian pursuing his lifelong vision for just society within the limits of the law and democratic tradition. He was a key panelist in the ongoing peace process between the Government and his group, RPMP/RPA-ABB at the time of his arrest. The attempt on his life and his subsequent arrest and physical humiliation are devoid of any justification.

Even worse, these were in direct contradiction to the avowals of President Bongbong Marcos during his first SONA, β€˜to honor all signed peace agreements;’ an affront to the profession of both Parties to the peace agreement to continue to pursue the process to its just conclusion. The attack and the subsequent arrest are insults  to human reason and basic decency wherein one branch of government desires and supposedly works for peace and reconciliation, while the other branch creates mess and sows mistrust and enmity.

The only way out of this contradicting situation is immediately release Lejun de la Cruz and sincerely pursue the ongoing peace process towards its just and honorable conclusion.
