The 8th Freedom of Expression Conference (FreeXP.con VIII) successfully convened on December 1, 2024, at the Cocoon Boutique Hotel, bringing together young advocates, human rights defenders, journalists, and digital rights experts to champion freedom of expression and truth. With the theme “Empowering Youth as Advocates for Freedom of Expression and Truth,” this year’s conference underscored the critical role of young people in shaping democratic discourse and fighting disinformation.
Since its inception in 2017, FreeXP.con has been a vital platform fostering collaboration, learning, and solidarity among individuals dedicated to upholding human rights and freedom of expression. Organized by Human Rights Online Philippines (HRonlinePH) in collaboration with the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA), DAKILA - Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism, and the Foundation for Media Alternatives (FMA), FreeXP.con VIII was a key event in the commemoration of International Human Rights Week.
