STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION OF THE TJG BAGLALANS ON THE BRUTAL KILLING IN AN AMBUSHED OF BRGY. KAGAWAD ELIVIN MOIRES OF BRGY. BONGO, SOUTH UPI, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR


While we are intensively preparing for the 4th Timfada Limud (Tribal Congress), the Central Leadership of the Timuay Justice and Governance (TJG), an Indigenous Political Structure of the Tëduray and Lambangian Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples in South Central Mindanao - BARMM is deeply mourning with the family and Tëduray and Lambangian community in Barangay Bongo, South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur, on the brutal killing in an ambushed of Barangay Kagawad ELVIN M. MOIRES whiile on his way going back home from a tribal wedding (uyot) on September 17, 2024 at 10:00 o'clock in the evening.


Brgy kagawad Elvin M. Moires is the 75th Tëduray who was killed in the former empire Maguindanao Province from the signing of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) in 2018 by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.


Barangay Kagawad MOIRES is the 3rd Tëduray leader who was killed in South Upi Municipality in two (2)


months alone without any sign of justlce for them and their families.


Barangay Kagawad Moires is a potential indigenous Téduray political leader as far as the barangay  is concern. He is a first termer Barangay Kagawad and the first termer Tëduray Barangay Chairman was forced to resign few months ago because of security concern.

Barangay Kagawad Elvin Moires’s fate is added to our list of 74 Tëduray and Lambangian Leaders and community members who were killed, ambushed or massacred since the approval of Republic Act 11054, also known as the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) which created the BARMM that supposed to be a mechanism for inclusive sustainable peace in the Bangsamoro Region.


All these 75 lives lost are until today, none is resolved, because of this, we concluded that there is impunity in this region tagged as peaceful due to a concluded peace agreement between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Fronts.


With this, we strongly condemn to a highest term the brutal killing in an ambushed of our barangay political leader.


We are therefore calling again and again the attention of the authorities to conduct deeper investigation on the continuing killing among NMIPs since 2018, when BOL was passed into law and the BARMM was set up, according to the TJG documentation of NMIP killings. Instead of conducting surveilance on social, cultural and economic activities of the tribes in the empire Maguindanao.
