Statement of PLM on the 52nd Anniv of ML

Fifty-two years have passed since Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. imposed Martial Law, and to this day, the masses continue to echo the slogan, "Never Again."
In 2022, the world witnessed another Marcos rise to national power as Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. was declared President of the Philippines. Deceived by the same corrupt tactics used by his father, Filipinos continue to suffer under the pervasive corruption and apathy of the Bongbong Marcos administration. Unsurprisingly, the deep-seated sentiment against the Marcos regime and the ruling class remains strong, serving as a stark reminder of the long road ahead toward the genuine liberation of the Filipino people.
As we commemorate this day, let us reflect on the sacrifices made by those who resisted injustice and continue to oppose oppression and capitalist greed. Only through a struggle where the oppressed class advances direct action against the capitalist system and its enablers in government—the elite who support dictatorships and fascism—can we build a society characterized by freedom, equality, and justice for all.
Never Again to Martial Law! The only way to ensure this is by abolishing the existing system of elite rule, built on dynasties and oligarchy—the main pillars of Philippine capitalism today. Instead, we should establish a government of the masses that will build a humane and sustainable system without exploitation and oppression of any sector or individual in society. No to Dynasties! End Dynasty Rule!
Itayo ang Gobyerno ng Masa!
